Episode 2 – Day 5
I finally made it to Timmins! I set out for this place on day 1, and I made it here on day 5! Well, at least I have the rest of the day to myself. But in actuality, I had something else in mind. The video editing has been draining me so hard. If you read the previous post, you’ll know I was at a 24/7 Tims. How exciting eh? You wouldn’t believe. I stayed there until 3:30am so I could finish doing at least the first and most tedious edit for the footage from Huntsville to Tville (Temiskaming Shores). As I left the Tims, I cheered “good morning” to a guy leaving the shop. He reciprocated and then said something along the lines “gotta go to work… sucks”, I on the other hand desperately had to get some sleep. I drove to the Walmart parking lot to find a spot to rest, and I realized I have to change the way I’m doing this. This is not feasible. I only ended up getting about 3 hours of rest.
Honestly, I feel like giving up on this. Not the trek to Alberta, but the video creation. It feels like such little reward for so much work. It’s worse than picking up cans off the side of the freeway – at least with picking up cans, you are a) cleaning up, which is rewarding in itself, and b) you can drop it off at the scrapyard and/or beer store for the return on the deposit. The payoff for this, on the other hand, is very detached – it’s certainly a long-term goal, no doubt about it.
The first thing I noticed about this town is how bumpy the roads are. It really makes my noisy front end that much more annoying (I guess the pot wholes are a feature – a speed bump – rather than something that needs fixing. It’s the day before Canada day – it will have to wait. I was told by my cousin that it’s nothing to worry about in the slightest, but then again, he wasn’t really paying attention, and it wasn’t very loud when we went for a test drive. When I turn and go over bumps simultaneously, it sounds like something is broken.
I also want to fix the bumper and the skirt. I spent a lot of time doing a plastic weld, but it did not work out. It turns out doing body work is really hard stuff! It’s quite a tricky spot to screw something into as well. Tomorrow is Canada Day, so everything will be closed. Perhaps the best day to do a long drive across the rest of Ontario. I am going to do my best to forget about these car problems until later – too many things working against me.
I just did the highlighting and some editing of todays footage. Now, off to get some soap, and hit the gym. I get to have a shower! Then I can sleep! Tomorrow I am hitting the road hard and early. No more going to the doctor. Todays expenses are as so:
Walmart – Strawberries, blueberries, 750 ml kefir, mushrooms = $11.85
Tims – $7.35 Tims2 – $2.15 Total: $21.35
